YNOT Wednesday Recap: May 1st 2019
Previews of unreleased music, charting country hits, and some of the best up and coming country acts took the stage this past week at YNOT. If you haven’t heard of The Walk-Ons yet, you better start paying attention. The incredible country duo is made up of Kyle James and Brad Hutsell. The two performed a handful of songs off their newly released EP, Famous By Association, which has already hit #8 on the country charts after only being released for two days! Also in round one was Rich Lafleur, Maryland raised and Nashville living this country man has the right style, sound, and presence for success. Rich performed a handful of original material including giving the crowd a sneak peek to his next single ‘Wasn’t for Me.’
Returning to the YNOT stage country hit writer CJ Solar performed some of his best cuts including songs cut by Florida Georgia Line and Jerrod Niemann. Another reputable writer in this round was Sony Music artist Carlton Anderson. Carlton performed some of his own recent releases including ‘When Baby Gets a Buzz’ as well as successful cuts including Cody Johnsons ‘Cowboys are Kicking.’ On-the-rise artist Ian Munsick wowed the cowed and most likely stole a few hearts with his southern charm when performing ‘Like it Aint’ and ‘Might Be Everything.’
Matt Willis, Greg Bates and Riley Thomas took us home with some heartfelt classic country in the last round of the night. Matt Willis’ ‘I Could Drink a Beer Right Here’ and Greg Bates’ ‘Nothing Like Nowhere’ pulled on all the right heart strings. Adding to the theme of country love songs, but with a twist, Riley Thomas had the place singing along by the end of one of his original songs that referenced Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies.’
Key West Songwriters Festival is taking over YNOT this coming week! If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by Durty Harrys’s in Key West on May 8th to catch YNOT songwriters performing from 9-11pm!
